Amp loss? Do you mean that something is draining your battery when your car is off? If so, try this. First a word of warning, if you have an alarm system, or a code or something that locks your stereo make sure you have what you need to unlock it before disconnecting the battery. Ok, now remove the *negative* battery terminal and set your multimeter to amps, and connect the multimeter between the battery terminal and the battery. If you see a large amount of current (higher than .300 amps or so) then make sure your lamps are all off. (hood/doors included)

When trying to isolate which circuit is causing the trouble, go through your fuse block and retest with each one removed at a time... when the load in amps drops when you remove a fuse, there's the culprit.

If you mean that you want to see if your battery is bad or not, you'll need a load tester... and your basic multimeter won't do that.

buy a new amp meter and read the paper work that comes with it it will tell you what you want to do.
