If the vehicle has a missfire or is hard onstarting the problem may be the MAP sensor
To determine if this unit is faulty follow the following instructions
Remove the existing MAP sensor and replace with a new one
If the fault is cured then the MAP sensor was the problem
If not start to replace all fuel system components one at a time until the problem is cured
Under the hood on the firewall passenger side it will say hitachi boost sensor on the top of it
The map sensor and boost pressure sensor are the same thing.
It should be on the upper left side of the firewall. There is typically a single vacuum line running to it, along with one electrical connection. Most Mazda EGR boost sensors are made by Hitachi, so if it is the original boost senor, it should say Hitachi on it somewhere. If you follow the EGR lines around, you should find it eventually. By the way, EGR boost senor issues are a common problem on all Mazda's made around this time and a dealer should know how to fix it.
