How can i fix a 1999 Pontiac sunfire that the tail lights and brake lights are not working but daytime runners and back window brake light works what is wrong?

On my 98 sunfire, the tail lights and marker lights only work if you turn on the headlights. If only the daytime lights are on, the Pontiac on the trunk is illuminated but no other lights at the rear until brakes or turn signals are activated. This is common with a lot of vehicles out there. Daytime running lights are not necessarily the same candle power as the headlights. I can tell a big difference in mine.

Why might the daytime running lights on a 97 Pontiac sunfire not work?

The daytime running lights on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire might not work due to a blown fuse, a faulty relay, or a malfunctioning light sensor that controls the operation of the lights. Additionally, issues with the wiring or connections leading to the headlights could also prevent the lights from functioning. It's also possible that the bulbs themselves are burned out and need replacement. Checking these components can help diagnose the issue.

Can you turn off the daylights on a 1999 Pontiac sunfire without taking the fuse out?

from what I've found the only way to shut off your daytime running lights is to put on the e-brake, or take out the fuse, which isn't the best idea. the daytime running lights will also usually not work if there is a blown hi-beam light
