Most lower ball joints are press-fit. This means that they are literally pushed into an under-size hole with thousands of pounds of force at the factory. You can, however, still replace them yourself, but you'll need a ball joint press. It looks like a really heavy duty C-clamp. You should be able to rent one from your auto parts store. (if you have an autozone near you, it's a free rental- just a security deposit that's refunded when you bring it back undamaged) And no i don't work for them, I'm just a very satisfied customer.
