They make a special tool for this, usually found in the section with the 'HELP' brand items, found in most auto parts stores. The clip that must be removed is shaped a little like a horseshoe. I personally have always used a small Allen wrench to remove the clip, but would not recomend this to someone who is not already very familiar with it. Good Luck
They sell a window crank removal tool to open the cotter in and slide off the winow crank handle. Slide the tool under the window handle and push the cotter pin back, off comes the handle

Remove the retaining ring from the top of your 1979 Chevrolet C 10 pickup truck ignition switch. Slide the ignition switch out and remove the wiring harness.
It is mounted under the drivers side of the truck in the frame rail.

you must pull the axles, remove the bearings and then the hub/brake drum assmbly. comes off as one unit.

It should be able to handle 5500 rpm without damage, but probably doesn't make much torque over 4500.
It's between the engine and transmission. The only way to disconnect it from the crankshaft is to remove either the engine or transmission... or both.
