Have someone pull the release lever and HOLD IT THERE, then push up and down on the hood at each side, it worked for me. Push reasonably gently so as not to dent the hood. Firstly, it is a bonnet not a hood. Secondly, always get your chauffeur to do it, it's their job after all.

The easiest way to open up your hood is to have someone pull the hood release lever for you. While they are pulling on the lever, you can then pull up on the hood.
Pull hood release inside by driver's door. In the front of the hood is a lever, push the lever to the right (toward the passenger side. Pull the hood straight forward. It will move 2 or 3 inches. Then go to the front of the hood by the windshield and pull up. The hood opens opposite of a regular hood.

you have to pull hood release then get out of car and pull up on the hood like you were to open it. then get back in car and pull hood release again. then get back out of car and open hood that should work. i have a 1999 Volvo v70 xc awd cross country and that's what i do for mine. ;)
