you need to first remove the #1 spark plug on the right front side of the engine. It helps to have another person to bumb the starter over while doing this. Put one finger over #1 plug hole tight and have your helper to bumb the engine over a little at a time ( SLOW) you will fill it suck your finger in and that's okay it will not hurt. but when it blows compresson out from under your finger then stops blowing that means #1 piston is at ( TDC ) Top dead center. You may have to do this a few times if it go's to far past the blowing out point. Now take the dist. and hold it up and over the intake where it go's in at, turn the rotor so it is pointing at #1 cylinder. Now turn rotor counter clock wise about 2 inches and start putting the dist down in the engine and as it is going down it will start turning the rotor clock wise until it is all the way down against the intake. When it's right the rotor will be pointing to #1 cylinder. If it's pointing towards the front of the engine that means you did not turn it counter clock wise far enough when you started. So lift it back out and turn rotor by hand back ccw futher and put it back in until it's all the way down and pointing at #1 When you get it right then install dist cap and put #1 wire on the cap where the rotor is pointing then start wireing the cap from there clock wise 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Driver side front to back is 1-5-3-7 Other side front to rear 2-4-6-8 Good luck it's trickey but you can do it.
