If it has an electronic engine, there'll be an SAE J1939 port on the bottom of the dash on the driver's side.. depending on what engine you have, you get a computer with the appropriate software for that engine (E.G., Insite for Cummins, Davie for PACCAR, etc.) and a compatible connection unit (e.g., Inline for Cummins, NexIQ, etc.) and you pull codes that way. You can view codes without having the ECM password.
