Well, the first step to any successful repair is to diagnose and identify the problem. Without knowing what's wrong, you either can't fix it, or else you end up throwing parts at it until you get it right - neither way is the right approach. So you need to remove the switch, inspect the components... if it's an external wire which is broken, that can be fixed.. if it's an internal component, you're probably going to have to replace the whole switch... those weren't really made to be rebuilt.
