If it is just a small crack, it can be fixed. If it is questionable than just replace. Junk yards are a great place to find good used inexpensive parts, or a good place for new is partstrain.com. If it can be fixed you need to clean the surface inside and out. Be very careful to remove all dirt and grease, if you miss any the patch may leak. You can use a liquid weld for a patch. I would recommend JB Weld, use the 24 hour not the quick drying, it does not work as well. Follow the directions very closely to mix, and apply an even thin cote. Make it as smooth as possible so that you can apply a second cote if needed.
Good Luck
i want to fix a 1995 astro vans oil pan how do i go about that?
You may need to reseal the oil pan
How do u fix a stripped out oil pan
replace pan (junk yard, used part) or find a somone who welds aluminum. New oil pan from the dealer would be expencive.
Just remove the oil pan and repair or replace it.
you have water in the oil. either a blown head gasket or a cracked cylender head.
Look for broken/cracked oil pan, broken/cracked oil filter; loose oil pan cap; leaking gasket on pan, filter, pan cap; main bearings; cracked block. Possibly even from a bad valve cover gasket. Look underneath the engine for fresh oil that has leaked and you can narrow down the search, try putting a piece of cardboard under your engine as soon as you shut it off .it will give you a good indication where your leak is coming from
Located in the oil pan
Yes! if you have a cracked head chances are your oil and coolant are mixing together and coolant and or oil is leaking out causing the vehicle to overheat... if you have a cracked head fix it! do not drive the vehicle
No, the head must be removed and replaced.
depends on where its leaking......could be easy if its a loose filter or loose drain plug but you could also have a blown gasket somwhere whether it be the oil pan head gasket or a cracked block
ok well you dont want to flatten it. if its cracked or bent get a new one.
