The best way to dry the computer chip in your key would be to carefully dismantle it with out breaking anything. Remove the battery. Get a piece of toilet paper and use it to dry any small droplets on the circuit board, or if you have access to A compressed air supply, blow the water off with an air blower. After that I would put it on something warm and dry(no humidity) for A few days like a radiator, what you trying to do is to get any moisture to evaporate from inside of any of the electronics components, and sometimes it takes time for that moister to get out. Well anyway good luck on your project,

If the car has a computer chip on the key, then the key area around the chip contact is worn and the key needs to be replaced. Hope this helps

only thing i can think of is because the key has a computer chip in it if u have the wrong key or the chip is messed up the car wont start
A "Transponder Key" refers to the key you use to start your car. The bulky black part of your key contains a "Transponder Chip". It is a computer chip that contains a code that is known by the computer in your car. If you were to take that chip out of the key your key would not start your car. So, how it works is as follows. When the ignition switch is turned on the computer in the car sends out an electrical impulse. This electrical impulse is picked up by the chip which sends a specific code back to the cars computer. The chip has no battery, it receives enough power from the electrical impulse to power itself long enough to send the code to the cars computer. I know this why? Because I lost the ONLY key to my ford focus and am going to be spending somewhere around 90 dollars to get it fixed. They are an expensive piece of equipment so be careful about dropping your keys and what-not. Matt
Its a programmable chip inside of the key .
Many cars have a computer chip in the key - anti theft - it will work on the door and not the ignition.
My 92 does have a computer chip in the ignition key.
You will know if your car key has a chip in it by checking your vehicle's owners manual. You can also check with the dealership where you purchased the car. You cannot tell by the appearance of the key.
This must be ordered/purchased through the a Buick Car dealer. A duplicated key without the computer chip will not be able to start the car ... this helps to prevent auto theft. you have to go to the dealer
No. This doesn't mean any properly cut key will work though. The computers in the car are sophisticated enough to tell which metals the key is made from. The car then compares the metallurgy of the key in the ignition to the file on the computer's memory. If they match, the car will start.
