I was told that in the Expedition 2004 you can push the belt release button when the chime is going off and that stops it until the door is opened the engine is turned off. Good Luck
The 2001 3.8L Ford Windstar has a timing chain, not a belt.
Pressing it will disable the overdrive.

i don't know why you wouldn't want to wear a seatbelt but you could go to a junkyard and get the male end from another vic and cut it off the belt and place it in the offending seatbelt end
