To check out the master window switch on a Jaguar XJ40, first remove the switch panel by gently prying it up with a trim tool or your fingers. Inspect the switch for any visible damage or corrosion, and use a multimeter to test continuity across the switch terminals when pressed. If necessary, clean the contacts with electrical cleaner or replace the switch if it's faulty. Reassemble the panel securely once testing is complete.
i would first check to see if power window master switch is good usually if more than one window doesnt work, that's where the problem isfords also have a lock on the master switch for windows other than driver window. check that is not engaged
I would replace the master window switch
Check the window switch.
The 1996 Honda Civic does not have a dedicated power window control module; instead, the power window system operates through the master switch and individual window regulators. Since you've already replaced the master switch, regulator, and motor, the next step would be to check the wiring and connections between the master switch and the driver's side window. Additionally, inspect the fuses related to the power windows, as a blown fuse could prevent the driver's window from functioning. If all wiring and fuses are intact, further diagnosis may be needed to identify any intermittent issues.
Check for intertia switch usually in trunk.
Yes, in many vehicles, the driver's door window switch acts as a master control for all the windows. If the master switch is faulty, it can prevent power from reaching the other window switches, resulting in all windows being inoperative. However, some vehicles may have separate fuses or circuits for individual windows, so the exact behavior can vary depending on the make and model. Always check the vehicle's manual or consult a professional for accurate diagnostics.
Check power to window switch. Common cause. Check power to window motor. If none then check fuses/relays.
Definitely sounds like an electrical problem. First check the fuse that controls the window circuit to be sure it isn't blown out. If it's okay, then the switch could be faulty or the wiring leading from the switch to the back window motor could be broken or shorted out somwhere between the drivers position and the back of the vehicle.
The driver-side power window of my 03 pathfinder does not move. I suspact the switch is the cause because there was no any noise when I turned the switch on. To check the switch, I need to take the master windor switch pad out. First of all, I took the screw out from the arm rest and then tried to lift the master switch pad as instructed by the repair manual. But the pad was not moveable. Anything else I should do in order to take the switch pad out. Please help. Thank you. Victor
Try swapping it with the driver's side switch
Short in the window switch . Check for bare wires before ther is a fire...
On Nissans, the passenger and both rear door window switches get their power through the master (drivers door) switch. First thing to try is playing with the master switch. Move the master switch button that is inop to the position that is not working and move it around with your finger. If this don't work, remove the master switch and clean the contacts, maybe with some silicon spray and then test if you have power leaving the switch. If not, the switch probably needs to be replaced. Have seen this happen on other cars and it has been the passenger door switch. It is most probably a double pole double throw switch and both sides of the switch need to work to make the window go both ways. Check the connections on the back of the switch and/or interchange it with one from another door. I think most likely a wiring fault at the passenger door switch and the drivers door switch have the same fault. Ken
