You can replace the transmission belt, on a Cub Cadet 1042, by loosening the tensioner pulley. Once the tensioner pulley is loose the belt will easily come off.
what model and which belt? If it is a 1000 series you have a transmission drive belt and a deck belt. I you have a 2000 series or higher or a cub cadet with an IH logo then you only have one belt the deck belt and no drive belt you have a drive shaft. So the model of the tractor and what belt needs to be given before the correct answer can be given.Phil

The same way you change the engine squirrel. There is no transmission belt.
The 3000 Series Cub Cadet supposedly have no belts, not transmission belt nor deck belts.

The easiest way to reconnect the spring is to: -Remove the left cover over the left blade drive pulley (three bolts) -Connect the spring to the idler bracket -Connect the other end of the spring over the tall bolt under the cover -Reinstall the cover
