remove front wheel of side you are changing (usually right side goes first. on the center of the brake rotor ther is a big nut 29mm or 32 mm i forget if there is a cotter pin remove with cutting pliers. if you are not using a air impact gun you will need a big 1/2 breaker bar or ratchet wrench you can use a pipe for leverage second have someone apply heavy pressure to the break peddle. you are going to remove this nut by turning it counterclockwise (leftty loosy) once done you must remove the bolt for the lower ball joint this is where the lower a arm attaches to the spindle/hub assy. once bolt is out a long pry bar is needed to push lower arm down until ball joint pops out of spindle you will now be able to pull the brakes and rotor away from car the axle usually has to be hammered out from center of hub/rotor put the big nut back on about three turns hammer the nut and the spline of the outer axle should start to come out remove nut a pull rotor back far enough to remove outer shaft from hole now thw inner part of the axle is attached to transaxle assy get a long pry bar that looks like a 3 foot screwdriver a wedge it between trans axle and cv joint give a quick jerk and it will pop right out some oil will come from transaxle. remove old axle shaft get new shaft match it up make sure its the right part then put inner joint in trans turn till splines line up you will feel this when you cant turn axle put old nut on outer joint a hammer shaft towards transwhenits in right you will feel in click in check new joint is as close to trans as old one puremove nut the nut is so you dont damage new threads. pull rotor snake new cv into center of hub/rotor pry down lower arm and put ball joint post back in the spindle pelace ball joint pinch bolt. replace with new nut and washer comes w shaft have friend apply brake crank that bolt tight as you can. if there is no cotter pin you must lock the nut by taking a hammer and chisel and bending the end of the nut in the groove on spline shaft. check your motor mounts #1 cause of axle failure in mittsus good luck
