The fuel pump on a 350 in a 1983 GMC should be mechanical thus the fuel pump should be located on the side of the engine near the front under the alternator. You should see steel lines going to it. (should be three) Disconnect these lines first. Then on either side of the pump you will find a 7/16 or 1/2 inch bolt. Remove these. Very carefully break the seal to the engine that will be holding the pump to the engine block. Make sure that the surface that you removed the pump from is free of the old gasket to ensure a positive seal when you put in the new gasket. Inside the hole that you removed the pump from should be a pushrod that has to be pushed back into place while you put the pump back on or you will not get the pump back on. Put the bolts back in and tighten them( but not too tight, just snugg)Put the fuel lines back on the way you took them off and then tighten the bolts up.

Yes, and so can a clogged fuel filter.
where is the fuel pump in a 1987 Mitsubishi Truck
The fuel filter is in the gas tank, along with the pump. You will not be able to change this filter, unless you change the pump too.
you have to remove the fuel tank and then I think you have to twist the fuel pump then it should slide right out.
the fuel pump is located inside the gas tank.To change fuel pump, take off the bed of your truck and unscrew the white thing on top of the gas tank. That is your fuel pump.
