If the transmission shift selector is cable operated, the adjustment would be located at the transmission end of the cable, where the cable housing is attached to the bracket on the transmission.

Your shifter will line up pretty good . Adjust your linkage so that the "N" lines up with the shifter while the trans is in neutral. You will have an extra forward position so it might be a bit tight grabbing low but it'll work. The important thing is to have park and reverse in the correct spot for safety reasons.
It is a recall that adds a part to help prevent the shifter accidently getting knocked out of park.
