Yes, but if your gauge is showing full when it isn't, then it's probably either a bad gauge or a stuck floater in the tank.
my gas gauge is not working what could be the problem
I hope you have air in the gas tank ... everyone does. The symptoms you describe may indicate a faulty gas cap. Heve it checked (tested) for functionality. Those sort of things wear out normally too, just like other things in your car. a gas cap can not be this problem the gas gauge gets it reading from a float in the gas tank as it goes up so does the gauge. the higher the float the higher the gauge and the higher the voltage going to the gauge. the lower the float the voltage is lower so the gauge goes down. ether the gauge is stuck or the adjustable switch that is attached to the float is damaged. but it could be that a wire that always has 12volts is shorted to the signal wire going to the gauge because a signal wire the voltage changes and a power wire will always have 12volts. one example would be the wire that runs the fuel pump they are right next to each other
More than likely the fuel gauge sending unit located in the fuel tank is faulty.
It would be nice to have a few more details such as what you are working on. With limited details I will guess that your float/sending unit in the tank is malfunctioning. A second possibility is a bad fuel gauge if it is mechanical.
There is no reset for the fuel gauge. The sending unit in the fuel tank has probably failed.
If the gas gauge reads a little over full when the tank is actually full on a 93 Geo Prizm, that is normal. Sometimes, when filling the tank, it will register over the full mark. The computer can be reset by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes if the tank is not actually full.
Your float assembly is probably sticks within the tank. It would be expensive to repair because the gas tank would need removal and the fuel pump/ float assembly is a unit. Sorry.
the fuse my be blown or ,it needs anew gauge
Because the car has a full tank of gas.
The gauge, wiring or sending unit is bad.
Most fuel gauge problems are the result of a faulty fuel gauge sending unit located in the fuel tank.
Bad gauge or stuck float in tank
i have 1991cutlass supreme v6 my digtial gas gage stuck
for your gas gauge to tell you when your ride is out or full of gas
There is no gas gauge on the 1983 Honda v65 magna. However this bike will get around 165 miles on a full tank. The best way to know how much fuel you have is to reset the tripometer on the speedometer each time you fill up, and refill at around 160-165 miles.
