There are electric motors(Usually two) that run the seat either front to back (One motor) and a second one that runs the seat up & down. The motors are small (5"X1,1/2") under the seat (Visible looking under the seat) with appropriate gearing mechanisms. The "hot" wires with twelve volts are hidden under the carpeting that power these motors.

There's no fun in playing it safe. Why not try something a little unhinged?
