Wind can be useful on boats or in small systems such as on an individual home. The larger systems are too slow to react to variations in weather and produce about 8% of rated power.

Small systems which power a given home or boat directly can be far more useful. They would require people to become self sufficient and buy their own inverters and wind generators.
