Dealer said the engine was shot and needed new engine, $3600 to $3800, I order a product online called Thermagard. 20000 miles later still running good.
I have a 1999 jeep 4.0 . I usually work on my own vehicles . When the head gasket went I purchased the gasket , some brake and carb cleaner . Remove the head , clean reinstall new head gasket . I used a belt sander to clean the surface of the old head . Total cost $96 and about 10 hours of time
