A lot of manufacturers use a torque setting, but not Chevy. With the motor running, go to zero lash, and then 1/2, to a full turn from there.
The stock rocker arm ratio for a Gen I Chevy small block is 1.5:1. The marine engines have the same rocker ratio, but use different cams and have bottom ends built to handle sustained RPMs.
Most 300's have no adjustment. It's just torque down the nut(bolt on newer years). There's aftermarket adjustable kits available.
