Turning brake drums

No, it is only necessary if you wore your shoes down too far and scraped or gouged the drum.

Also if the shoes wore unevenly, or if it has been a really long time since they were done it would be good to smooth them out.

Feel the inside of the drum, if it is smooth with no ridges then it will be good for another set of shoes, but if you feel grooves, or a ridge on the outside then it would be better to have them turned.
