You make the decision to rebuild or not. However, per the terms of the replacement cost endorsement, if you choose not to rebuild then the company will pay you the actual cash value of the damage. If you rebuild, the company will pay replacement cost. No replacement, no replacement cost.

What is the replacement cost to rebuild a home in Woodland Hills Ca 91364?

$42,545.95 My answer is as useless as the question is, right? Your insurance agent can figure the approximate replacement cost of your home using a replacement cost computer program guide. The replacement cost estimators that the insurance industry use will overestimate the rebuilding cost somewhat but they would much rather be 10% high than 10% low on the cost estimator. If you have a replacement cost policy it will increase your coverage a small amount each year based on an index that figures any increase or decrease in replacement cost down to your exact zip code.

Is it true that the claimant gets cash or check if he or she has a ACV option and has to turn in receipts if he or she has the replacement cost option on the homeowners policy?

not exactly. replacement cost is better. receipts are not required by law, but the ins co's say that they are because people don't know better.

Will an insurance company pay out a dwelling claim if you decide not to rebuild?

Does it mean when there is a lot of oil coming from the tailpipe?

It means you need to rebuild the engine especially the rings and seals. If it is a Honda, you can get a replacement motor installed for cheap. Well worth it too. They are either JDM (Jap Domestic Market) or USDM (US Domestic Market). A rebuild will be more expensive than any replacement engine. You can always sell your old engine as a running engine in need of a rebuild due to blowing smoke or oil. It is not worth much but it is worth something, Maybe about 30% of the actual cost for your replacement engine. Red

Why might the listed replacement value on a policy not accurately reflect the cost of replacing a home?

Your insurance company only does an estimate of rebuild cost based on current market prices by square footage. The insurance replacement estimate may or may not be entirely accurate depending on factors such as Build grade and finishing option's.
