Yes and No.
I started selling vehicles right out of High School. Math was never a strong subject for me. Ever. Once you get your feet wet, you'll notice there is a very limited amount of mathematics required for this line of work. However, some basic math is needed. Addition, subtraction, mult., division in order to understand the fundamentals of the business and be able to communicate with your customer and the desk. What you should be good in, is listening to your clients. Newbies will sometimes feel they need to talk. WRONG! Ask a question, and then shut your mouth! Customers will give you all the information you need in order to sell them. The car business isn't easy. Commission only is very strenuous and it's difficult to structure any type of solid type of monthly income, but over time, like any other profession, the only math you'll need is how to spend all the money you're making.
A car salesman uses a 4 square. It is broken into 4 separate parts. The price of the car is in square one/ the down payment in square two, the amount we offer for your trade in three and the monthly payments for the purchase is square 4. Other than that math is still math!
