When you fill it up gas flows to the reserve tank first and then flows into the main tank.
What I've always done is put the gas tank on reserve and pull the hose that connects from the tank to the carb and have it drain into a gas can. It will get almost all the gas out of the tank.

after your all out of a gas it could keep you going for 30mins or so...
Pull the hoses off the carbs, stick the ends in a gas can big enough to hold all the gas in the tank, and turn the fuel petcock to "reserve."
That all depends on which model of ranger you have, using the info from the 1988 truck light duty specification book, it states; all short wheel base vehicles with midship mounting gas tank 57.5 litres all long wheel base vehicles with midship mounting gas tank 64.4 litres all Ranger Super Cab vehicles with midship mounting gas tank 54.9 litres Optional Auxiliary Aft of Axle mounting gas tank 40.2 litres Engine size doesn't seem to affect gas tank capacity.
Vehicles vary on how much gas is left in the reserve tank when the gauge starts flashing empty. Most vehicle manufacturers have it set up so that there is at least 1 1/2 to 2 gallons of gas left in the tank when the gauge flashes.
Yes, as in almost all EFI vehicles.
with a match put match inside tank. burn it out.
a gas tank does not have a filter! Many newer vehicles have the fuel filter integrated into the fuel pump.
No, they do not have a Reserve Gas Tank. They do however have a low fuel warning light. Once the low fuel light comes on you have around 2 gallons of fuel left in the tank.
my 1976 dodge d100 has a 30 gallon tank.
