Depends on if it is fuel injected, throttle body injected, or has a carburetor. Most of the symptoms you describe indicate either a partially blocked fuel filter or weak fuel pump (either low pressure or a weak diaphragm). Some cars have filters in the tank itself also, and these get clogged sometimes. At idle enough fuel comes through, but when you accelerate the filter or the pump is not providing enough pressure to meet the increased demand. You can replace the filter fairly cheaply but if it's the pump (some are driven by the crank shaft and some are electric) that's a more detailed process. The tank filters on some GM products must be replaced by the dealer.
