Any individual can have two different auto insurance companies if they have more than one vehicle. If you find that rates are lower with one company for one vehicle and lower for the other with another company, you can carry two separate insurance policies.

Yes, You can have as many insurance policies as you want too buy.

Just remember though that in The event of a claim or other covered loss, you can only receive payment from one. Receiving double indemnity is a Felony Insurance Fraud offense.

So no matter how many policies you purchased, you only get paid once.

Rule of law is as follows when you have multiple policies for the same vehicle accident.

Whichever Policy has the broadest coverage is considered your primary policy.

The next broadest coverage policy after the first will be considered "Secondary Coverage" and will invoke if and when the primary policy coverage exceeds it's recovery limits.

And so on and so on.
