You can drive a car without an air intake pipe but it may end up pulling hot air in from the engine compartment. This will reduce the engine's overall performance.
You need to pipe the air intake into the fender.
On the intake of the carburettor where the air ram pipe / air filter fits.
non turbos have them in the air intake mainfold, turbo engines have them on the inside the box that conects the air intake pipe and the air intake filter just remove the filter from this box and also remove this box from the air itake pipe and you can see the iat sensor in there
the "intake air temperture" sensor is located in the intake air stream. usually in the air cleaner housing or in the hose pipe that directs air to the engine
in the air pipe from the air filter box to the engine
The IAT (Intake Air Temp Sensor) you are looking for is located in the Air Flow Sensor which is located at the end of the rubber intake pipe.
my fiat pinto 1995 is spluttering and i removed the air intake pipe as it was full of holes?
A cold air intake is an aftermarket part used to help open air flow to the engine. The cold air intake sucks up cold air from underneath the car and is attached to your intake manifold. So it is a pipe going from somewhere close to the bottom of the engine compartment leading to your intake manifold.
It is on the top of the air intake pipe, just after the air filter box.
On the intake pipe to the throttle body
The MAF ( Mass Air flow) sensor is located right on the intake pipe. Can't miss it.
To remove the air intake pipe from a Renault Grand Scenic 54, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety. Then, locate the intake pipe, typically held in place by clamps or screws; loosen these using the appropriate tools. Carefully detach the pipe from the air filter housing and the throttle body, taking care not to damage any connected sensors or components. Finally, remove the pipe completely from the engine bay.
