Regular maintenance of your furnace filter is essential to ensure proper air flow, which can improve the efficiency of your furnace. By replacing or cleaning the filter regularly, you can prevent blockages that restrict air flow and make your furnace work harder. This simple maintenance task can help your furnace operate more efficiently and effectively.
To optimize air flow for your furnace filter, regularly clean or replace the filter as recommended by the manufacturer. Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the air intake or vents. Consider upgrading to a higher efficiency filter if necessary. Regular maintenance will help improve air flow and overall performance of your furnace.
The furnace filter goes into the furnace with the airflow arrow pointing towards the blower motor.
To replace a furnace filter, first turn off the furnace. Locate the filter slot, usually near the furnace blower. Remove the old filter and note the size. Insert the new filter, making sure it is facing the correct direction. Close the filter slot and turn the furnace back on.
To determine the correct furnace filter size without a filter to measure, you can check the dimensions of the filter slot in your furnace and use those measurements to find a filter that fits properly. You can also consult the furnace manual or contact the manufacturer for guidance on the appropriate filter size for your specific furnace model.
You should replace your furnace filter every 1-3 months, depending on the type of filter and how often you use your furnace.
