However, welding temperature is around 15000 to 30000 degrees ( zinc will vaporize at 1500 degrees), causing the zinc around the weld to vaporize. Correct way to approach this problem would be to use a half coupling, half nipple, or thread o let on a threaded glavanized pipe then welding the otherend to straight steel.
