Possible but unlikely. Starters are designed to be liquid tight and work no matter the weather. As such, I wouldn't think oil would penetrate the case any more than rain or other road chemicals thrown up onto the starter. With that said, the oil leak is costing you money in wasted oil and when mixed with road dirt over a period of time can act as a blanket and cause engine to run warmer than normal. Should the oil find it's way onto the hot exhaust a nasty burnt oil smell in the car is likely.
Gasket that goes between head and valve cover to prevent leaks
Yes, if it leaks oil through and on to the spark plugs, it will foul them and cause a missfire.
When it leaks.
it leaks oil
Might I suggest that either the leak was/is not at the timing cover gasket, or maybe something went wrong on the gasket install?
Oil/antifreeze mix is usually caused by head gasket leaks or valve cover gasket leaks.
The most common place for oil leaks is the sump/crankcase cover gasket. A torn gasket will allow oil to escape. A common cause could be a blown head gasket putting too much pressure in the crankcase.
replace the valve cover gasket, easy fix
A common cause of problems in cylinder head gaskets is leaks in the gasket. When a leak forms, the gasket must be replaced.
If the valve cover is leaking it may let oil flow down the head and make the Head gasket appear to be leaking. Clean the engine and then use oil dye or watch for leaks. If there is a coolant leak it is not the valve cover.
NO. The valve cover gasket seals the valve cover from leaks. The valve cover covers the valve train and it's components and it bolted to the top of the head. These components sit atop the head. The head is bolted directly to the engine block with another gasket. Water and oil flow through the head.
Yes. Antifreeze is actually pumped through the intake manifold. If the gasket is bad it is possible that it leaks out
