In what type of vehicle? A vehicle requiring a CDL requires one on any public roadway, from the Interstate to a rural backroad. In the instance of trucks which would otherwise require a CDL, the farm truck exemption applies, so long as the following conditions are met:
Are you talking about for a CDL driver, or no? For a CDL driver operating a CMV, you must be at least 18 to drive intrastate, and at least 21 to drive interstate.
Can I drive a farm dumptruck without a cdl in Washington State
You can get an intrastate-only CDL at the age of 18. To drive interstate, you must be 21.
No
Only if it meets the following criteria:It is a registered farm vehicleIt is used exclusively for the purposes of the farm to which it is registered (including hauling product to market)It remains within a 150 mile radius of that farmIt is operated by the farmer, immediate family members of the farmer, or direct employees of the farmer (this is the FMCSR reg; states may be more restrictive in allowing only the farmer to drive it without a CDL)It is not used as a third party carrier
A CDL license is required to drive a skid loader. Many employers will require a CDL to get positions that require the operation of a skid loader.
Only in very limited circumstances. If it's a for-hire vehicle, then no. If it's a registered farm vehicle, and you are either the farmer, immediate family of the farmer, or a direct employee of the farmer, and that vehicle is used on a not-for-hire basis solely in support of that farm's activities, and it is within a 150 mile radius of the farm, then you don't need a CDL to drive it, although states will have their own licencing requirements for vehicles of this class which are exempt from regulation by the FMCSA.
If you're 21 or older, whether you drive interstate or intrastate, you ALWAYS self-identify as "interstate, non-exempted". Then, if you ever have to take a job where you do run interstate, you won't have to go back to the DMV just to change how you self-identify.
Under federal law, 18, with an intrastate only restriction. 21 to drive interstate and/or get a hazmat endorsement. Some states won't allow anyone under 21 to have a CDL, though.
Yes
Depends. You can drive up to a Class 6 truck (up to 26,000 lbs. GVWR) without a CDL. Class 7 or Class 8 trucks require a CDL.
If it's a registered farm vehicle, then a CDL is not required, provided that:It is operated exclusively for farm useIt is not operated on a for-hire basisIt is operated within a 150 mile radius of the farmIt is operated by the farmer, members of the farmer's immediate family, or direct employees of the farmer
