Where is the modulator valve on a 1987 S10 Chevy Blazer with a 2.8L engine and an automatic transmission?

Where is modulator valve s10Hi there,If your transmission is a stock 1987 s10 2WD or 4x4,the transmission is a 700r4, 4 speed transmission w/ Overdrive.(around 1991 the 700r4, was renamed the 4L60, about 1993 became the 4L60E, E for electronic shift.) This transmission did Not have a vaccuum modulator, as did earlierchevrolet 3sp automatic transmissions. They use a TV cable (Thottle Valve cable) to determine shifting. The TV cable hooks up to the carburetor or injection body linkage -in a (visual way) similar to the older (kickdown) linkages of 3spd automatic transmissions. It is NOT a Kickdown cable.Proper adjustment IS CRITICAL to the survival of your 700r4.you. Good luck

What do i have to do to swap a manual transmission to a automatic on a 1993 Chevy 1500 truck?

Since the manual is five speeds and the auto is four, you may have to find a corresponding driveshaft, as the manual transmission has a longer body. Also, unless you're swapping in an older auto transmission, like a 700R4 or a 4L60, 1993 was the gear General Motors went to the electronic 4L60E transmission, which will require the engine ECM to be reflashed and the parameters added to interface with the transmission.

Will a transmission from a 1993 G20 Chevy van fit in a 1989 G20 Chevy van?

[No it will not the only reason is the 4L60E transmission in your 93 was manufactured with a wiring harness that is different. The only vehicle it was manufactured for was the 93-94 g20 sport van 4.3 v6 no other! yes it will bolt up and move the vehicle, but you will not have use of speedometer which will not allow the transmission to shift, thus ruining the transmission.] You are incorrect about a few things. First of all, the 4L60E was installed in ALL GM G-series vans from 1992-1996 and possibly later. It was not only installed in 93-94 Vans with the 4.3. Second, it is not the speedometer that would be the main problem. It would be the overall control of shifting, which is controlled by the ECM. In 1989, the transmission (700R4, most likely) also had a TV cable, which aided in shifting and it was partially controlled by the ECM. The 4L60E is completely electronically controlled. There are kits to install a 4L60E in older vehicles and it is such an improvement over the 700R4 that it is worth the added expense for the computer kit..

Can you put a new automatic transmission in a older car?

So long as the engine bolts up to it and there is enough room there is no reason that a transmission upgrade won't work. There isn't much you can't do to a car if you are willing to throw enough money and time at it. If you mean to ask if it is a good idea to replace a worn out transmission with a new one of the same type, the value and condition of the vehicle is going to make your decision for you. I wouldn't put a new transmission on an old car with 100K+ miles on it. I would consider getting a rebuilt or a salvage transmission with a warranty. I installed a later model used 700R4 automatic transmission into a 1971 Chevy pickup truck with great results. As already stated above, the bolt pattern needs to match between the engine and transmission and the rest you can fabricate. The fuel mileage went from 15 mpg to 19 mpg highway.

Can the rear main seal be replaced with engine and transmission still together?

No Depends on make, model, and engine. Some older style engines have the rear main seal in the rear main bearing cap. If that is the case, it is possible if the oil pan can be removed with the transmission in place.
