With a tool called an "Easy Out". Most automotive parts supplier like Napa carry them.
remove two bolt
1. Disconnect the fuel lines. 2. Remove the bolt on the front right face of the engine block which is opposite (just forward of)the front (forward) fuel pump mounting bolt. 3. Replace this bolt with one that is 2 in. or longer and snug it down. This will hold the fuel pump pushrod in place. 4. Remove the fuel pump mounting bolts and remove the fuel pump. 5. Replace the fuel pump, replace the longer bolt on the front of the block with the original and connect the fuel lines.
No schrader. There is a banjo bolt on the front fuel rail, drivers side. You need a banjo bolt adapter for your fuel pressure tester to run a fuel pressure test. Remove the banjo bolt, insert your banjo bolt adapter in it's place, attach it to your pressure test gauge, run your pressure test.
I have a 92 Trooper and my fuel filter is located on the frame rail, passenger side of the car near the rear tire. Just clamp off the lines on boh sides of the fuel filter so fuel doesn't go all over the place then remove the one bolt holding the fuel filter in place. Remove the fuel lines and put your new filter in place. Attach the fule lines, bolt the filter back in place and remove the clamps. I hope that helps.
If you have a fuel injected engine it is in the fuel tank. If you have a carb model it is located ( from the driver seat ) on the front right side of the engine at the bottom of the engine. There is a trick to holding the push rod up on these. There is a short bolt in the front of the engine near the fuel pump that you will remove, install a longer bolt in the hole to pinch the push rod tight, change out pump. remove long bolt and install short bolt. hole must have short bolt or it will leak oil excessively. The only purpose of this hole is to aid in fuel pump change.
1987 was the cross over year for these. If you have a fuel injected engine it is in the fuel tank. It is located on the top of the fuel rail in the back by the firewall on the driver's side of the truck. It is held on by 3 alen screws which are upside down making it difficult to remove. The bolt that is located closest towards the front you must remove the injector plug that is right beneath it in order to remove that bolt.

Remove the rear wheel 7. Remove the rear fender. 8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the low fuel level warning sensor. 9. Remove the mounting bolt and washer securing the secondary fuel tank to the frame. 10. Remove the secondary fuel tank from the frame.
Remove the fuellines on both ends by pulling the black connector away from the filter. Undo the bolt holding the filter in. Remove the filter and but in a new one. Connect the fuel lines.
Found it!!!!!! There isn't one. You have to remove the fuel line bolt that goes to the fuel rail and temporarily install a banjo bolt that connects to a fuel guage. This applies to 4 cylinder (3S-FE)and v6. I got my own answer but maybe someone else needs to know......
The fuel filter is in the carburetor. if you're facing the engine, hood up, remove the air filter assembly. There's a large bolt in the lower right position of the front of the carburetor a little bit above the carburetor plate. You have to unscrew this bolt to get out the fuel filter. CAUTION: When I did it, the bolt was in cockeyed and it stripped out and cracked the carburetor. I had to jb weld the carb, and jb weld the bolt back in place with no fuel filter replacement. Then I had to run a hose with a removable fuel filter from the fuel pump to the carburetor. Now I can see the fuel filter and replace it readily.
Follow the fuel line forward from the fuel tank to the fuel pump and look for the filter. If you do not find it, then follow the fuel line from the fuel pump mounted on the engine block to the carburetor. If you do not find it, then your Rambler may have the filter mounted at the fuel line intake on the carburetor itself. If you see a large bolt type connection at the fuel intake of the carburetor, the filter is located behind that bolt. Slowly and carefully remove that bolt with the proper tool and you will find a cartridge type filter that is spring loaded. If you buy the filter first then you will know what type it has.
