Yes, they are worth rebuilding. This is an engine build to last with minimal down time. A good maintenance history makes the distinction whether any engine is worth rebuilding. The 2.2 is easy to rebuild and replacement parts are easy to come by as this engine fit into several different vehicles over a long period of time. There are some minor differences from certain years as the engine progresses to what it became. Finding this particular information is also easy. I've built two 2.2's and worked on my own over the years so I am familiar with this engine. If the block is sound and the head can be serviced, it's worth the time and effort to rebuild it.
