Yes, they are. I have two Swimmer-style jocks(with the 1 inch waistband) and I often wear them as underwear. It really depends on what you'll be doing that day though. If you're just sitting at a desk, then no. If there is more physical things going on, like moving furniture, working on a car, exercising, etc. then yes, jocks are a good choice. Comfort-wise strictly, is simply a matter of opinion. I don't mind them.
