1996 Geo Metro it was knocking but running fine bad gas it ran OK though for the 100 mile trip but now it barely will start sputters and just dies I installed new plugs timing belt and fuel filer?
did you try the (control modual and coils) or (cap and rotor)?

The belt tensioner needs to be replaced along with the belt and adjusted correctly. Procedures for this can be found in a chiltons or Haynes manual for your vehicle.

No. My first guess is the fuel filter got plugged up from some stuff on the bottom of the gas tank. Try replacing it.
