no they could both have the same HP. look at the WRX from subaru it has a like somewhere around a 2.5liter engine and has close to 300hp a rgular size truck has a 5.6liter engine and has that same HP. its all in the way the motor was built.
the subaru impreza is a 4 door all wheel drive econo car that has been refined from the rally world to become a car suitable for the road that can drive on all terrains. the car comes in the following trims impreza, impreza wrx, and impreza wrx sti. the impreza is the base model and usually comes with 2.5 liter 4 cyl engine. the wrx depending on the year is a 2.0 or a 2.5 liter turbo charged 4cyl engine with someowhere around 230-250 whp. and finally the sti (subaru technica international) is the highest trim. this model comes with a 2.0 or 2.5 liter 4 cyl turbocharged boxer engine that powers out around 305hp which is controlled by a 6 speed manual gear box. the impreza and the wrx both come with either an automatic or a 5speed manual gear box option the sti model exluding the 08-10 models is a 4door rally car with a large wing or spoiler on the back. SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SUBARU WRX AND THE STI IS THE FOLLOWING WRX: STI: 5 SPEED 6 SPEED 250 HP 305 HP NO WING LARGE WING OR SPOILER THE STI ALSO HAS DIFFERENT BADGES THAT SAY STI AND A DIFFERNTLY DESIGNED INTERIOR AND SUADE BUCKET SEATS THAT SAY STI
That depends on if you mean subaru of America or subaru of japan. Subaru of America started offering turbocharged cars in the mid 80 in the form of the GL-10 and I believe the RX as well. these were no better than the non-turbo versions. Subaru then turbocharged the legacy in 91 and 92. this was a 2.2l Closed deck block (ej22T) A very strong motor and very sought after in the performance world, making about 165hp! Subaru dropped the turbo cars after that until 2002 when they came out with the impreza wrx. that was the ej20t, a 2.0L making about 230 hp. then in 04 the release of the impreza wrx sti there was the 2.5L ej25t making 300 hp. subaru of japan has offered turbocharged versions of all of their cars in every model year! subaru of japan also released the ej20tt. a twin turbo version of the ej20t. it only fits in the right hand drive cars due to the steering column. I belive that was around from 95-99. subaru of japan has also now released a Turbocharged diesel motor for the 2010 and up cars.
