In warm climate or Summer Windshield Washer Fluid the composition is mostly water + some detergent + colorant (dye); however, in cold climate or winter type WWF there're some 25-40% of a mono-alcohol (methanol, ehtanol or iso-propanol) or mixture of these added. And, for very cold climate, the ratio may be more than 50% of ethanol or methanol. In some special WWF (e.g. Rain-X), there are minute amounts of some proprietary polymers added, which stick to the glass and repel water and waterborne dirt.
