One rule is while looking through the scope move the microscope UP only. If you don't then you risk bumping into your sample or slide.
Use the large or gross focuser first then your small or microfocuser.

  1. Ensure the microscope is on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Begin with the lowest magnification objective lens.
  3. Slowly turn the coarse focus knob to bring the specimen into rough focus, then use the fine focus knob for sharp focus.
