its very natural and healthy for a turtle to have salmonella and you cant get rid of it but you can get it but just make sure that you wash your hands after holding them

As long as you wash your hands after being bit then you should be fine. Turtles carry salmonella depending on the age. The smaller the turtle the more salmonella it will have. Even when holding the turtles you want to wash your hands after.
