The meaning of the term "Wings of Fire" probably means, to some extent, power, whether it be a physical, mental, or emotional one, possibly combining the symbolism of fire and wings. Wings are a symbol of freedom or spirituality, while fire is a symbol of many things, including, but prob'ly not limited to, being a purifier, a destroyer and as the generative power of life, energy and change, illumination and enlightenment, destruction and renewal, spirituality and damnation.

Wings of Fire is a bestselling book-series by Tui T Sutherland and is loved by children of many ages. It features a dragon war and five dragonets who are prophesied to end it and chose a SandWing queen.

(Spoilers for those who haven't read book five - The Brightest Night.)

To what the 'wings of fire' actually is, the reader is never given a straight answer, which adds to the mystery of it all.

Two possible answers is; 1, the Eye of Onyx, which is an Animus touched (magicked by an Animus dragon) object to chose a SandWing queen, by either turning them to ash or doing nothing.

The Eye of Onyx appears as a black orb of onyx set on a chain with golden wings on either side of the orb, the wings being referred to the wings of fire, which makes sense, as in the Dragonet prophesy it is said 'of three queens who Blister Blaze and Burn, two shall die and one shall learn, if she bows to a fate that is stronger and higher, she'll have the power of Wings of Fire.'

The second theory is a dragon named Peril, who has a power she was born with called 'fire scales'. She saves one of the main character's life bu using her fire scales to burn the poison out of his leg after he was bitten buy a 'dragon bite viper'. The character who's life was saved - Clay- says that maybe Peril is the Wings of Fire.
