Thin out the paint for color match
I'm guessing this is auto paint. The best rule is to use a reducer of same brand some are not compatible with other brands. e.g.(PPG paint PPG reducer & activator). You will most likely have issues if you mix and match brands. And yes urethane reducer can be used with urethane paint.
its a solvent
Thinner--specifically, mineral spirits. Reducer is used in urethane car paint.
A mixing ratio given as 4:2:1 normally means 4 parts of base product, 2 parts thinner/reducer, and 1 part hardener. However, some paint manufactures add hardener second, and thinner/reducer last.
Adding a reducer to paint can lighten colors by diluting the pigments, which reduces their intensity and saturation. This process not only makes the color appear lighter but can also improve the paint's flow and application. However, it's important to use the right amount of reducer, as excessive dilution may affect the paint's coverage and finish. Always test the mixture before applying it to ensure the desired shade is achieved.

do you use hardner or reducer in clear coat car paint?

To use auto paint colors effectively, you need to have the right tools, such as a paint sprayer. Going to Auto Body School will also help because they would teach you how to apply the paint correctly.
Reducers are added to auto paint to adjust the viscosity, ensuring the paint flows smoothly and evenly during application. They help improve the paint's atomization when sprayed, leading to a better finish and reducing the risk of runs or sags. Additionally, reducers can aid in drying time, allowing the paint to cure properly and achieve optimal adhesion and durability.
Talk to the people at the paint store for better advise but choose a reducer that matches your paint and temperature range and I go with a 2 to 1 reducer to paint ratio using a 50psi regulator, that works well enough for me.
Dupont
Yes, you can use enamel reducer instead of naphtha to thin enamel paint. Enamel reducer is specifically formulated for thinning enamel paints and will help achieve the right consistency for application. However, naphtha can also work as a thinner, but it may not provide the same results in terms of drying time and finish quality. Always refer to the manufacturer's recommendations for the best results.
you need to mix equal parts car paint and reducer really well. then transfer the mixture to a paint gun.
