The crankshaft pulley should have only one timing mark, and that is the one for TDC

There are 5 markings. Looking from the front of the motor the marks start at right 15btdc, 10btdc, 5btdc, TDC, 5atdc. Top dead center will be the second marking from left then.

How do you set the timing on a 1990 Suzuki Sidekick?

As far as i now, having just replaced the water pump on my 90 sunbird LE non-turbo, there are several marks to look for. The first is on the bottom pully which should be alinged with 8 on the plastic timing belt cover. Next after removing the plastic timing belt cover - no simple task as you have have to remove the alternator serpentine belt and tensioner - check that the cam shaft sprocket at the top has its notch at 12oclock which will align it with the 'v' groove in the metal timing belt cover bolted to the engine. If not remove the belt by sliding it off adjst the cam shaft sprocket as mentioned above and put the belt back on. Good luck. PS you may have to remove the passenger side front wheel and inside wheel shroud to better access the lower part of the timing and crankshaft pully. Best bet hit your local library for the Hayes or daynes autorepair manuals. PPs sorry maybe a better manual would be Chilton's Repair Manual

Can you bypass the air con pump with a serpentine belt on a 1998 Chrysler Voyager LE?

The only way you can do this that I am aware of, is to by an after market pully for the vehicle, you have to unplug and remove the A?C compressor, and bolt the new pully/bracket to the engine blok in place of the compressor.

Which terminal on the distributor cap is number 1 on a Ford 4.9 inline six cylinder engine?

Look on the front of the engine...look to the timing marks on the center pully on the end of the crankshaft. Clean the pully off so you can see the timing marks. Work the marking to O (zero)....when the crankshaft is on TDC, pop off the distributor cap and look where the rotor is...that should be number one...and the number one cylinder is the cylinder in the front. I hope this answers your question. DM
