I assume you are talking about the round thing in the drivers side of the oil pan with a wire coming out of it? It is an oil level sensor. If the oil level is dangerously low upon startup the display center will show OIL LEVEL LOW. This can happen when the car is parked on an extreme grade, usually with the nose of the car lower than the front as there is no oil touching the sensor when you start up...You have to cycle the key on level ground two times to allow the sensor to read that there is sufficient oil in the pan.
It has a sensor that translates oil pressure into electrical energy which shows up on the dash as the oil presure.
check your oil level. if it is low add some. your oil pressure sensor may be faulty, or you could have clogged oil passages. if you change your own oil, put some lestiol in your engine just before you do your next oil change. drive the car for about 5 miles, then come home and change the oil. htis might fix your problem.
It also means check your oil level, sounds to me like it is down a couple quarts.
Is the engine tapping when running? If not, check the oil level. If the oil level is at the full mark on the dip stick, then check the oil sending switch. My just need to replace it. Easy fix if that is your problem.
It is not an oil level sensor it is an oil pressure sensor. It just unscrews.
Oil level sensor is on side of oil pan.
Make sure you are looking for the THE OIL LEVEL SENSOR and not the oil pressure switch. Oil level sensor should still be located on the oil Pan.
How do you install an oil level sensor 2007 Tahoe

An oil level sensor will shut down the Ford Expedition. If the oil level sensor senses that the vehicle is low on oil, a light will alert you to the fact before the vehicle shuts down.
If there is sensor with wires going to it sticking out of the front of the pan, it has the level sensor.
The oil level pressure sensor is located on the front of the engine. The oil pressure sensor is just above where the oil pan bolts to the engine.
