Like many other geniuses, his IQ fluctuated. His work was groundbreaking, notwithstanding, and we should accept his IQ by the quality of his works. His genius was marked by strong psychotic reactions, so when those were going on, his IQ was undoubtedly lower. While he was of sane mind, it is likely that a painter of that caliber had an IQ between 150-200, with short-lasting bursts of intellectual highs significant enough so as to, if he were able to hold on to that level of intellect and creativity were it not for his illness, would have qualified him as an even greater genius.

Sadly, his illness caused him to suffer and suffering stands in the way of focus from time to time. Wouldn't it be better if we could all just be happy and think efficiently?
