A heart murmur is a sound or murmur that a doctor hears with a stethiscope. Before a baby is born a hole exists between the ventricles. At birth, that hole starts closing. Normally it is completely closed in the first few years of a child's life. If it presists into adolescence, an operation may be necessary to close it, otherwise the person might get out of breath real easy.
