I don't know, but I have the same problem. My radiator cracked and my battery light and brake light came on ALL at the same time! I got my new radiator today and went to crank the car to drive it to my friend's house and it wouldn't crank. I had a similar problem turns out the Alternator was bad.
If it gets cold enough the coolant will freeze and crack the block if there is no antifreeze.
Remove the alternator belt from your 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo alternator. Remove the wiring harness from the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new alternator.
