The thing is you say you have an original. No, you do not. You have a print. The original painting is in the Paris Musée d'Orsay. It is over 4 ft high and nearly 6 ft wide and cannot be bought. It was sold for $78.1 million in 1990. A print like yours can be bought on the Internet for a few dollars.

plaster of paris, or if you want an ink print you can take fingerprinting ink and set you dogs foot on it then set it on paper.
Get a tray of sand and print your hand in that then pour the plaster of Paris on top of the sand print. Wait till dry then brush the sand off.Try putting playdough (bought or home-made) into the bottom of a suitable size container lined with cling film, make the impression of your hand in the dough then pour in plaster of Paris. Allow to dry completely then remove from container (the cling film makes this easier), remove dough and 'voila'! Paint and/or varnish if desired.
Buy some concrete or plaster of paris. Mix and pour in a small square baking pan (one you don't use for baking is best). Coat the mold with cooking spray or vaseline and when the plaster starts to set up, press the paw into it-you could probably even do stepping stones with the right mold.

You would do the crime scene thing in old novels where the character makes a barrier around the print out of like paper or something and then fills it in with plaster. However long it takes plaster is however long it will take you to get a print. They always do human prints, but it could work for animal prints too. If it's in snow, well, my only suggestion is to get a camera. And a ruler. So you can tell how big it is later. This would be a ton more convenient than carrying around plaster with you.
To preserve footprints, one can make a casting of the print using materials like plaster of Paris or silicone rubber. It is important to carefully pour the material into the impression and allow it to harden completely before removing the casting. Store the cast in a cool, dry place to prevent any damage or deterioration.

Offset printing plates are typically made of either aluminum or polyester. Aluminum plates are more commonly used for higher quality printing jobs, as they are more durable and provide better ink adhesion. Polyester plates are generally used for shorter print runs or simpler print jobs.
